Simple arithmetic, done for every holiday of the year.
No guesswork: public holidays, weekends, and the days in between.
- Pick your country and year. We load the official public holidays for that country. Your browser gives us a first guess, and you can change it.
- Tell us how many days of leave you have. Add the months you would like to be away, or leave that open and we look at the whole year.
- We find where your days stretch furthest. Every public holiday is checked for nearby weekends. Where a day or two of leave closes the gap, that is a bridge. We then spread your days across the best of them.
- You get breaks, not a spreadsheet. Each break shows the days to request and the days you get. Add them to your calendar, copy the dates for your manager, or save the plan.
Days off per day of leave.
For each possible break we count the days you are away and divide by the days of leave it costs. A normal week off gives 9 days for 5, or 1.8. A good bridge does much better.
In the example, the public holiday falls on a Tuesday. Taking Monday off joins it to the weekend: 4 days off for 1 day of leave, a score of 4.0.
Good to know
Where the holidays come from
The open Nager.Date dataset, covering more than 200 countries. Regional holidays that apply to only part of a country are left out.
What we do not know
Your employer may have its own closure days or rules about when leave can be taken. Check the dates before you request them.
What we store
Planning works without an account and is recorded without your name. A plan is kept only if you choose to save it.
